Body:
Judith Ann “Judy” (Rizzo) Reeves—beloved mother, grandmother and friend—passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on April 24, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was 80. Born February 24, 1945, in Highland Park, Illinois, to the late Nick and Edith (Belmonti) Rizzo, Judy graduated from Highland Park High School and earned her beautician’s license before marrying William “Ronnie” Reeves, with whom she shared a devoted 57-year union until his passing in 2022. Judy began her career as a hairdresser, then spent many years as a health aide and school secretary in her hometown. After retiring and relocating to Louisville to be closer to family, she kept busy—and made countless new friends—working part-time at Dollar Tree. A natural extrovert who “never met a stranger,” Judy loved gathering for lunch, running errands with friends, and tackling puzzles in the community room. She was also famous for her homemade Italian tortellini and other dishes inspired by her Italian heritage. She decorated for every holiday and often dressed to match—with themed earrings, socks, sweaters, and anything else that spread a little seasonal cheer. Judy is survived by her son, Ron Reeves (Lisa); four grandchildren, Kate, Mark (Rachel), Luke, and Sam Reeves; and a large extended circle of cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who will miss her uncanny ability to break the ice, spark conversation, and turn strangers into friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. A private cremation has taken place. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be announced in the coming weeks; friends and family will be notified once arrangements are finalized. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Judy’s dear friend Pam, who remained by her side in the hospital and provided comfort in her final hours. Flowers and other gifts are not necessary—your thoughts and shared memories are deeply appreciated.
