Perhaps because my happiest high school memories are of choirs, ensembles, shows, and, yes, even teachers in the Music Department, I wanted to see if there are others out there who would like to reminisce--and sing? Does anyone recall being in Mixed Ensemble when we sang at a retirement home? The elderly person in charge started by recognizing the residents' birthdays. One woman failed to stand up, in spite of several repetitions of her name. Finally, another resident spoke up: 'She died last week.' Now that is not funny, I know--especially 50 years later--but it was hysterical at the time. As we 12 fought the giggles, Mr. Haberland shot daggers our way; the show went on. Later he admitted that he was so stern because he was on the verge of laughing himself. Those moments just don't happen in Latin 4 or Algebra 2!
When and where do you want to sing? I am staying at the Courtyard. Don't know if it has a piano or a space for after-dinner carousing....or maybe you can get a room in the high school music area! That would be funny, but when? I see some time late Saturday afternoon after the 2:30 Philosopher's Cafe, or after dinner either night..... 'build a field and they will come'?
Well, Kathy, if you and I are the only ones nibbling at this bait, it may be not be in the cards (dare I say, 'sheet music'?) However, if we are fortunate enough to run into other Music Department enthusiasts, possibly at the high school tour or the Philosopher's Cafe, then we can see if there is interest in gathering around a piano. I wonder how many piano bars remain in this age of karaoke?
Maybe there's a piano @ HP Country Club! After a couple glasses of wine I'll bet you'll get plenty. Many in our class are not computor savvy & not using website. Look @ 'who's coming' & just send an email to chorus members.
Would be terrific if you guys sang 😊
Can't wait to see you both!
Miss handy....definitely power hungry. Things changed when she took over the cheerleaders and not in a good way
Mr Guthrie....taught us how to write but was the hardest english class I ever took
Mrr. Hayes...well that is a story not for print but telling
