Last night I attended a Passover seder at my son Victor's house. The parents of one of his guests were teachers at HPHS in the 1960s. Do you remember either of these folks?
I had Mr. Garrigan for Spanish. Also, I'm pretty sure that someone (maybe Ricky Jacobs) had posted an inquiry about Ms Hoffman on our website. Funny, some information would evolve a year later. Small world. Were they in attendance at the seder, or just their progeny?
Mr. Garrigan was my home room teacher - that's a funny phrase to write. I also recall he did some summer work in Housewares translating for a U. S. company.
Bill Garrigan was my home room teacher and a very nice teacher with a great sense of humor and was knowledgeable if you had a question in any other course subject matter
Mr G was my homeroom teacher and a man with a good sense of humor. He used to hang with Mr Hunt, who taught lATIN AND LATER JOINED THE fbi OR cia. tHEY WOULKD SPEND TIME AT THE PIZZA PLACE ACROSS FROM THE STRIKE AND SPARE, HEFTING A FEW BREWS. hE WOULD GREET US HEARTILY WHEN WE WENT TO PICK UP PIZZA. HE DID NOT CARE IF WE KNEW HE WAS ACTUALLY A HUMAN BEING WHO NEEDED TO UNWIND AFTER A WEEK OF DEALING WITH ALL OF US .
LOL
I do indeed remember Mr. Garrigan. He taught Spanish with a Mexican accent, and
inspired me to go to Mexico . I've made three trips so far and plan more.
I had an art show at Museo Jean Byron in Marfil, just outside Guanajuato

I remember Mr. Garrigan well. I think I was the only person in our class to participate both in Wrestling and chess club, his two extra-cirricular activities. I had to drop out of wrestling my junior year because of illness and missed half my senior year because of injury. Although I was tempted to drop out, Mr. Garrigan's encouragement and good attitude kept me going. Without this on my high school resume, I'm sure I would not have been accepted at my first choice college (Did anyone else get a 'C' from Mr. Guthrie?), making med school less likely, and subsequent residencies just a dream. I'm sure my life would have been very different without Mr. Garrigan's enthusiasm (and his recommendation letter).
